Wife Forces Toy Collector to Sell Collection

More to this auction than meets the eye: Wife forces sale of £200k Transformer collection to pay off the mortgage

It was a childhood hobby that became a lifelong obsession.

As the years went by, Shane Fenton’s collection of cult Transformer toys just grew and grew. and grew.

Not just in volume but also in value, they are worth a cool £200,000.
Impressive – except his partner has now stepped in to insist that he sells his stash of the Japanese-inspired toys to pay off the mortgage... or else.

Hobby Limbo

With the Canadian postal strike still unresolved and faced with the unexpected cost of replacing a burned out video card, I find myself in hobby limbo...

This is why things are slow around here at the moment...

But this is actually a good thing!

I took stock of the unbuilt plastic injection kits and calculated that if I spend about 1.5 to 2 weeks completing each kit (I like to take my time and do a good job),  I estimate that it will take me roughly 33 to 44 weeks to assemble and paint them all.

My stack of unbuilt kits is literally almost five feet high.

And this doesn't even take into account the large selection of unbuilt resin kits in storage downstairs!

I think it's about time I start on them, eh? :-P

Japan Post to stop all shipments to Canada

topic_canada_post

The postal strike is taking its toll.

Japan Post is stopping all shipments to Canada due to the postal strike.

I have nothing coming in from Japan at the moment but I have a package coming in from China/Hong Kong and I don't know how their postal systems will respond to this strike.

New Additions July 2011

Our strong dollar and e2046.com's 20% off in-stock clearance sale turned out to be an opportunity I couldn't resist--- although I tried!

I waited literally till the last hour to place my order, spending all that time mulling over the purchase decision.

In the end, I ordered two video game character themed figure kits.

Sorry for the lack of posts!  I haven't been doing much that's hobby related as of late.    I've got a long list of priority tasks that I just haven't been able to make a dent in.

Here's some hobby related topics that have piqued my interest as of late!

Postal Strike

We have a looming postal strike where I live, which means that my online orders could end up languishing in postal warehouses or sortation plants until the strike is over.

It's fortunate that I don't have many orders coming in.

My Real Grade 1/144 Gundam kits and my GN-Archer Robot Damashii figure have already been delivered so  I only have one  item that's oustanding, which is the RACAseal figure kit

If the strike goes through, I think she's going to get delayed--- well, at least I hope it'll only result in a delay and not the package becoming lost in the post-strike chaos!

I've never had a shipment lost and I hope this time won't be the exception.
